The Ultimate Guide to Combining Spotify Playlists: Merge, Mix, and Master Your Music Library

With billions of user-generated playlists living on Spotify, our music libraries often become fragmented. You might have a high-energy workout mix, a nostalgic indie playlist from three summers ago, and a collection of deep house tracks scattered across your profile.

Instead of jumping back and forth between different moods, combining your playlists into a single, cohesive master collection is the best way to supercharge your listening experience. Whether you want a quick merge or a heavily curated transition-heavy set, here is everything you need to know about combining your Spotify playlists.

Method 1: The Native Spotify Workflow (No Extra Apps Required)

Spotify offers built-in ways to move songs around, though the exact approach depends on whether you are using a computer or your phone.

On the Desktop App

  1. Create a Destination Playlist: Click New Playlist in your sidebar and give your master playlist a name.
  2. Multi-Select Tracks: Open the first playlist you want to combine. Click the first song, hold down Shift (or Cmd on Mac), and click the last song to highlight all tracks.
  3. Drag and Drop: Click and drag the highlighted cluster of songs directly over to your newly created destination playlist in the left sidebar. Alternatively, you can right-click the selection, choose Add to playlist, and pick your destination.
  4. Handle Duplicates: Spotify will notify you if you are adding songs that already exist in the target list, allowing you to filter them out seamlessly.

On the Mobile App

  1. Open the playlist you wish to absorb into another.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu icon near the top of the playlist.
  3. Scroll down and select Add to other playlist.
  4. Choose your destination master playlist. The tracks will instantly transfer over, leaving you free to archive or delete the old playlist if you no longer need it.

Method 2: Using Third-Party Tools for Bulk Merging

If you are trying to combine five, ten, or even dozens of playlists at once, doing it manually can be tedious. Several reliable third-party web tools allow you to log in securely via your Spotify account and execute mass merges:
